Dr. Schokking is a family physician with a keen interest in promoting rural generalism. He is a fellow of the College of Family Physicians who still does it all: ER, trauma, OB, hospital, and long-term care.
Dr. Schokking has practiced for 37 years, first as an Ontario indigenous fly-in physician, then in Nepal and Pakistan before coming to Prince George in 1994.
He has an in-depth knowledge of the healthcare system provided by his experience as:
- Board member with the Prince George Division of Family Practice and the Prince George Medical Staff Association;
- Doctors of BC Family Physician Representative Assembly for Prince George for 6 years;
- Served for 22 years as the Prince George Continuing Medical Education physician; and
- Provincially he is the co-chair for the Doctors of BC Shared Care Committee and the Rural and Coordination Centre Rural CME & Evaluation leads.
As Facility Engagement Physician Lead, he is committed to building relationships and supporting medical staff and their families so that they are connected, appreciated, and well-equipped to understand the healthcare system and function as a valued team member together with other healthcare professionals.
