Physician Lead's role
Key Responsibilities
Building relationships with medical staff:
- Interacting internally with the medical staff executives, physicians and departments to identify opportunities to facilitate physician engagement;
- Recruit medical staff members to opportunities identified that contribute to physician engagement;
- Liaise with medical staff members on matters that they have identified as important.
Collaborate with key external stakeholders:
- Specialist Services Committee, other Medical Staff Associations, Divisions of Family Practice and others to identify potential opportunities; and
- Supporting the development of constructive and collaborative relationships between the medical staff and Northern Health executive and staff.
Governance related work:
- Promotes the PGMSA vision, mission, values and strategic goals;
- Reports to the medical staff board by regularly sharing information on issues and progress at quarterly Board of Directors meetings;
- Reports to the UHNBC Facility Engagement Working Group by regularly sharing information on issues and progress at Working Group meetings as required;
- Chairperson of sub committees (as required);
- Regular attendance at Medical Staff Association meetings;
- Provides a clinical context to assist the Project Manager, Facility Engagement;
- Attend the Specialist Services Committee, Physician Quality Improvement Steering Committee and / or Joint Leadership Committee (as required); and
- When required, together with the Project Manager, Facility Engagement score UHNBC FEWG project applications using the ‘Project Selection and Prioritization Matrix’ and present results to the Working Group.
